Guadalajara, Mexico - 11.27.2011. Medellín writer Fernando Vallejo was awarded this week with the Prize of the International Fair of Guadalajara. Born in 1942, Vallejo became one of the most outstanding Colombian and Latin American writers with his polemic
sicario novels (stories about the Colombian hired assassins.) He is also known as the
Master of the Insult. Settled in Mexico since 1971, he claimed the nationality of that North American country in 2007. A prolific writer, he has won several other awards in different countries, including his native Colombia, the country of his inspiration. He has been also a film director.
