Colombian production of oil increased

Bogotá. Colombia produced 939,895 barrels of petrol per day in October, reported Dinero Magazine, a 17.4 percent increase if it is compared with the October 2010's production. Ecopetrol showed the biggest production (36%) with 322,718 barrels. Other petrol companies in the ranking were Meta Petroleum Limited in the Pacific region with 195,930 barrels, Occidental de Colombia with 74,161 barrels, Mansarovar Energy (34,042 b.), Equion Energy (33,828 b.), Petrominerales Colombia (32,786 b.), Hocol (32,486 b.), Petrobras Colombia Limited (29,062 b.), Perenco Colombia Limited (21,543 b.) and Canacol Energy (21,510 b.) Dinero noted that standing companies like Gran Tierra Energy, Petromagdalena and C&C Energía were not included in the ranking. The areas with more production are Rubiales, Castilla, Chichimene and Quifa, all in the Department of Meta that became the first Colombian petrol producer with 430 thousand barrels per day. Others were Caño Limón (Arauca), La Cifra Infantas (Santander) and Rancho Hermoso (Casanare.) The Bank of the Republic reported that foreign investment in petrol and mine reached 10,432 million US dollars, 49.2 percent more than September 2010.
