sentenced the Department of Atlantico's Tribunal this week. The State was found guilty in the crime of the scholar. The Tribunal found also that the Administrative Department of Security (DAS) created false evidences to accuse professor Correa of being the brain of an allegedly leftist guerrilla group. For this reason, professor Correa de Andréis was arrested in 2004, but the lack of evidences dismissed the false accusation. On September 17 of that year, the scholar, who was rector of different universities and led a Barranquilla chapter of a Colombian association of sociologists, was assassinated in his city. His bodyguard, Mr. Edward Ochoa Martínez, died also in the crime. Recently, the Supreme Court sentenced Jorge Noguera, 2002-2005 DAS' director, to 25 years in prison for his relations with paramilitary groups and his role in the assassination of professor Correa.
