Colombia Weather: June 2008
Weather in Colombia is much affected by its mountains. Humidity, rains in most
of the regions this month. Temperatures: Bogotá 15°C; Medellín 17°C; Cali
20°C; Cartagena de Indias 30°C; Barranquilla 30°C; Bucaramanga 24°C.
The Republic
of Colombia became one of the worlds
travel destination during the last years widely recommended by travelers and
tourists agencies. After years of a chaotic image of violence, Colombia is
attracting visitors from around the world who are discovering a nation difficult
to imagine. Cities like Cartagena
de Indias, Santa
Marta, Medellín,
San Andrés Islands, Bogotá, ecological and archaeological parks as Sierra
Nevada de Santa Marta, San Agustín and Calima among many other sites, are
filling the expectancies of travelers from the five continents. The reasons are
many: it is a country with much to offer in an amazing variety of climates,
mountains, beaches in its two oceans, islands, natural parks, modern cities and
very kind people.
Security
in the country has improved since 2001 and most of the tourist places are safe.
Even if still conflicts, those do not affect the growing industry
of tourism in Colombia, a country of
opportunities and a growing
economy. A country that works for
peace, justice and development, a country where the only risk... is
wanting to stay...
If
you go anywhere in the world, you will find as international food things like
Chinese restaurantes, Vietnamese, Mexican, French, Italian and even Spaniard. I
forgot where I saw an “English” restaurant, maybe it was in Bangkok, while
American food is every-McDonald-where. Mexican food is the most popular from
Latin America, but I never have met a Colombian restaurant out of a Cafe de
Colombia site in some airports (Continue

Here
we have a real featured blog about Colombia, a little different to what we
can imagine. Normally many blogs try to show the best and most beautiful
pictures and they have of course their right, but nothing better than show
those things from the daily life. A country is known on its streets and
countrysides, rather than in that so protected and well-arranged
“tourist-tube” where visitors are conducted with always smiling faces
and an intermediate-boring English to say “welcome sir, how may I help
you sir, please sir”.
This blog of Carlos
Múnera from Medellín and his Somos iguales (we are the
same), is a lovely exception. It is not only the magnificent photographies
of what seem to be a skillful and artistic observer, but also the subjects
he follows in the simple of the most characteristic of the Colombian life.

Medellín
is currently the headquarter of the 18th Assembly of the Organization of
American States (OAS) with the assistance of several heads of states from
the American nations. Of course one of the main issues is the Colombian -
Ecuadorian crisis that seems to improve in the last days.Picture
