OUR
MISSION STATEMENT: CAN, USING THE
POWER OF THE INTERNET, TO IMPROVE
THE ECONOMIES, AND LIVES OF THE PEOPLE, IN THE AREAS WE
The
foundation of our "Mission" is based on the
following FOUR BELIEFS
formed over the past ten years of working in support of
our Mission :
1. Of the three principal "forces" in our
lives: Government, Religion, and Culture, the greatest
change in the least amount of time, can be made through
the humanitarian force of: GOVERNMENT.
2. The INTERNET is THE high powered
communications and knowledge tool of the world.
Governments that are serious about creating more options
for the poor, while improving overall economies, must
insure that Internet: service, computers, trained and
dedicated teachers, are actively working in all schools,
starting with schools located in the poorest areas.
Teacher compensation and advancement must be based in
part, upon annual student tests designed to effectively
measures student/teacher progress.
3. Governments must accept that required ENGLISH
CLASSES in Colombia and other Hispanic countries are
a proven failure. Current methods of language
instruction only result in a feeling of inferiority
among the general population. PRONUNCIATION is the most
important KEY in learning a second language. Students
MUST listen and learn pronunciation ONLY from NATIVE
SPEAKING SOURCES. There are only two practical
options: PC INSTRUCTION using software with NATIVE
SPEAKERS, while being assisted by current English
language teachers , or the second option, implement
an INTERNATIONAL TEACHER EXCHANGE PROGRAM.
4. Governments must take the lead regarding greater use,
understanding of, and ways to OBTAIN MEASURED RESULTS
from the Internet. Government controlled educational
institutions must teach their students how to access and
utilize current information freely available on the
Internet, such as: A. Quickly and accurately
accessing and evaluating information readily available
from Search Engines-which contain the WORLD'S LARGEST
DATA BASE. B. Teach proper Home Page creation
that includes all three Search Engine required elements:
Design, Text Writing, and Programing. The RESULTS will
be a major increase in the number and quality of
visitors to Home Pages. C. Teach the importance
of regular monitoring and evaluation of STATISTICS and
GRAPHS that can be freely accessed from the Control
Panel of all Home Pages. Historically, Home Page
designers are taught only "design" with no
teaching effort directed towards the importance of HOME
PAGE RESULTS. Website owners and managers REQUIRE this
timely information in order to evaluate the relative
success or failure of their Home Page-including ideas
where improvement is needed!
Our
Policy on Copyright
Our
Mission is to promote
Colombia. Unfortunately the legalities of copyright can
be an obstruction to our concept of free and open
promotion. Our international Portals contain many
references to "Copyright", and while they
appear to be strictly copyrighted, this is only done to
satisfy some Search Engine algorithms which may provide
better Search Results when the crawlers "see"
the word: "Copyright".
You may freely copy any material or photographs, which
we have created, that are positive in the promotion of Colombia. It is not necessary to
contact us for permission, however please mention:
"Colombia", and if
possible, the domain address of our Portal: ( www.colombiainfo.com).
FAIR USE COPYRIGHT LAW. Our sites do contain a
limited amount of copyrighted material that in some
cases may not have been specifically authorized by the
copyright owner. We are making such material available
to our reader/visitors in our efforts to advance the
economy, and or social justice issues related to the
areas we serve. We believe this constitutes a 'fair use'
of any such copyrighted material as provided for in
section 107 of the U.S. Copyright Law. In accordance
with Title 17 U.S.C. Section 107, the material on these
sites is distributed without profit to those who have
expressed a prior interest in receiving the included
information for research and educational purposes. For
